Day 163: Smoothing Out The Wrinkles

The issues with the top of the second structure seem to have been resolved. Utilizing the press conference as its own scene seems to have helped dramatically. I have taken some of the comments about that scene from two weeks ago and applied them. The scene is snappier and more character driven. It feels more organic and part of the same universe now. I'll find out tomorrow night when I take those pages in review. If all goes well, I'll be on to the second half of the second act.

Overall, things are progressing towards a completion of this round of rewrites. I keep trying to push things and make it go faster, but there is only so much time in the day. It's getting a little frustrating, but at least I feel like the writing is finally progressing again after much down time.

Tuesdays at 9 has started up again after the X-mas break. I don't know that I will be taking anymore of Come Ups into that group. I will (hopefully) be done with the script before any submissions are selected to be read. With the feedback from the Rewrites group I should be ready to start marketing and any readings at Tuesday's will be superfluous.

I need to have a new project ready to submit to Tuesdays in the next couple of weeks. By the time I get a reading slot, I could even have a third project under way to take into Rewrites. That will give me two projects to work on simultaneously, plus the marketing for Come Ups. I don't know if I will have time to accomplish all that, but I would rather go big and have to pull back than to hold back and end up not utilizing resources that are available to me.

I'm coming up on the six-month mark and I really want to push the projects along the best I can with the time I have remaining on this journey.
